Το Μουσείο Μπενάκη τριάντα και πλέον χρόνια πριν, οργάνωσε και φιλοξένησε στο χώρο της οδού Κουμπάρη, την έκθεση ‘Παραδοσιακές καλλιέργειες’. Πολύτιμα αντικείμενα των μόνιμων συλλογών του, αγροτικά εργαλεία, αλέτρια, σβάρνες, δρεπάνια, λελέκια, παλαμαριές, αδοκάνες από κοινού με φωτογραφίες από ώρες κάματου και χειρωνακτικής εργασίας στην ελληνική ύπαιθρο αποτέλεσαν μέρος της έκθεσης αυτής.

Τι συμβαίνει όταν η αρχαιολογία συναντά το θέατρο;  Τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει ξεκινήσει ένας διάλογος ανάμεσα στους δύο κλάδους, αποτέλεσμα του οποίου υπήρξε η δημιουργία ενός νέου «υβριδικού» κλάδου ο οποίος χρησιμοποιεί τα μέσα του θεάτρου για να εξετάσει το αρχαιολογικό υλικό και τα μέσα της αρχαιολογίας για να προσεγγίσει την τέχνη του θεάτρου.
Στα πλαίσια αυτά και ως μέρος του προγράμματος αρχαιολογίας και αρχαιολογικής εθνογραφίας στην Κουτρουλού Μαγούλα Φθοιώτιδας θα παρουσιαστεί τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2011 μία performance στον χώρο της ανασκαφής. Θέμα της το πολύπλοκο ζήτημα της τροφής στις διάφορες προεκτάσεις του και ο ρόλος του δείπνου ως διαχρονικό κοινωνικό φαινόμενο και ως εμπειρία. Πρόκειται ένα αφηγηματικό σύνολο που βασίζεται αποκλειστικά στο λόγο, αντλώντας από αυτό που ονομάζουμε «λογοτεχνία» της τροφής: θεωρητικά κείμενα, αρχαιολογικές αναφορές, συνταγές, αποσπάσματα από κλασσικούς συγγραφείς κ.α.
                Στις 8 Μαΐου, στο μουσείο Μπενάκη, γίνεται μία στάση στο δρόμο προς την παράσταση. Στο χώρο της «Κιβωτού» θα πραγματοποιηθεί μια work in progress παρουσίαση  με στόχο τη συνύπαρξη της έως τώρα δράσης με την βιωματική αυτή εγκατάσταση. Η «Κιβωτός», ελληνική πρόταση στη 12η Διεθνή Έκθεση Αρχιτεκτονικής στη Μπιενάλε της Βενετίας, είναι μία εγκατάσταση που αναστοχάζεται τους παλαιούς σπόρους και την ιδεολογική βιοποικιλότητα που είναι διαθέσιμη αλλά ξεχασμένη και υπό εξαφάνιση, καθώς ταυτόχρονα επαγγέλλεται νέες κουλτούρες εδαφικής ζωής.

(The Ark: Old seeds for new cultures)
The Ark is the Greek entry in the 12th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale.

According to its creators (Phoebe Giannisi, Zissis Kotionis), this installation re-focuses on old seeds and the ideological biodiversity that is at our disposal, but which lies forgotten and on the brink of extinction; while, at the same time, it provides the promise for new cultures of life in the soil.

In the Greek Pavilion, Yannis Isidorou creates a visual and sound installation, producing a simulation environment with the initial agrarian production experience. Kostas Manolidis, with his landscape topologies hints at the capacity to rethink the wealth of the ground through his representations. Maria Papadimitriou in her seed laboratory re-introduces agricultural practices connected with the pleasurable experience of nutrition into the extensive ground of a metropolis. Alexandros Psycholis typesets a guide for aspiring urban life gardener-cultivators. The Ark itself was designed and constructed, bearing the heavy memories of the phytogenetic material from the Greek landscape, while at the same time it travels, along with its visitors, unsuspecting yet familiar inhabitants of a world where collective survival became a condition for the survival of the very world in which we survive. Stimulating the senses; pleasure and hedonism; companionship and cohabitation, as they were experienced by the various collaborators over the five-month experience of completing this collective piece, are settled in the Ark, as a counterweight to the consumerist monasticism of city life.

"if humans didn t eat meat they couldn t survive i guess during the pre historical times maybe beacause of dryness or permanent snow they couldn t eat plants anymore ... but nowadays we can get almost everything from plants... evolution has nothing to do with intelligence in this case ... human became meat eaters in order to survive... horses did the opposite for example..."

Tsukiji market | Food tourism


We stayed in Tokyo for 4 nights in between a Trip to Kyoto and arrived home on the 15th September 09. After planning for the trip we were truly and utterly confused at what time to arrive at the market. We chose to get up at 4:30 and got to the fish market around 5:15 taking the subway. We followed the many street carts zipping around to the tuna auctions that stop and wait for no-one. We saw the frozen tuna auctions that take place between 5:15 and 6:00 am where the public are allowed to view and take photos (no flash). One tip is the fresh tuna auctions take place in the hall adjacent to the exit of the frozen tuna hall and a sneaky peek can be had. After the auction we strolled around the outer market and came across a man delicately cutting up a fresh tuna that he must have just bought. We went for sushi in one of the small bar restaurants towards the entrance of the market where people had begun to queue for breakfast. We paid 3,500 yen each for a set menu that consisted of chinese tea, miso soup, 3 or 4 pieces of sushi and 1 piece of the famous o toro tuna which was melt in the mouth amazing.

        two young fellas -- one white, one black -- both wearing cheap
        black suits with thin black ties under long green dusters.
        Their names are VINCENT VEGA (white) and JULES WINNFIELD
        (black).  Jules is behind the wheel.
